** Quantum Mechanics can be derived from Special Relativity **

A physics Derivation of Quantum Mechanics from Special Relativity!, the Simplified SRQM RoadMap version, and 4-Vectors.

John B. Wilson is from Charlotte, NC and surroundings. John received his  B.S. & M.S. in Physics (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA), (GA Tech Alumnus Info) and minored in Philosophy (Sci-Tech) and Mathematics (Computing). He never quite finished his Ph.D. in Physics (all class-work done, just needs to finish a thesis), but may go back someday (unlikely - he will just have to live with an ABD=All-But-Dissertation...). He was and still is an idealistic (INTP), but seems to be aging towards a more pragmatic (INTJ)x(INTP). He has spent time on a number of interesting projects, including but not limited to: The Science Realm Website + subpages, being a perpetual student, esp. of science, technology, & philosophy; reading/browsing futuristic, hi-tech, sci-fi, & fantasy; meditation; listening to contemplative music, from New Age, like Enya, to intellectual rock, like Rush; computer programming [Access, Assembly language, Basic/QBasic/Visual Basic/VBapps, C, C++, dBase/Visual dBase, Delphi, Excel, Fortran, HP RPN Calculator, HTML/DHTML/CSS, IDL, Java, JavaScript, Logo, Mathematica, MS Office Apps, MS SQL, Pascal, Visual Basic, WindowsAPI, & various other programming and application languages (anyone remember the TRS-80 Model 1?), fractals, stereograms, ray-tracing, various graphics (inc. in JavaScript!), Turkish language/grammar, various general small business apps (database, spreadsheet, word processing, financial stuff, website design, advertising graphics, computer security, cross-communication, networking, data backup, etc.), scientific, mathematics, and logic simulation (Mathematica rules!), a Javascript RPN Scientific Calculator using complex math, an Excel spreadsheet Scrabble Score Calculator (designed for the Scrabble Challenge day of the Gaston Literacy Council), etc. - essentially, show me the language you want, I can program it.]; the martial arts Hapkido, Karate, Krav Maga, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu; teaching/learning/playing-with science, physics, math, philosophy, & computers (like 4-Vectors, Sums of Powers of Integers using Forced/Generative Induction ,Primes, Science/Math Belief System); running a small business (wearing all the different hats); writing Sci-Pan pantheist poetry; trying to figure out how to get small children to clean up their rooms and do their homework, as well as the more regular, mere-mortal types of IQ puzzles, like Kryptos + Antipodes + CyrillicProjector , to which I think I have solved the last part of Kryptos: Kryptos Part 4, which got me interested in a Kryptos Simulator, various Secret CodeSystems & Ciphers, and creating my own Cipher/Code Challenge: RuneQuest Cipher Challenge; collecting/demonstrating science/physics toys/demos; collecting good quotes; attending Dragon*Con in Atlanta, GA as an Eternal; enacting random acts of kindness; snow-skiing, jogging, hiking, bouldering, biking, motorcycling (Honda CBR600f4i), geocaching, archery, target shooting, RVing etc.; enjoying the infinite wonders that exist in this rather chaotic universe, etc..., basically just trying to perfect the body, mind, & spirit... as time permits... which isn't often... BTW, did I mention I like computing? Google & Wikipedia Rule!

John was working on a Physics Doctorate at GA Tech from 1991-1995, when he met his then wife-to-be, Serpil.  Serpil has M.S. degrees in Physics, Health Physics, and Physics Education.  They were married in İstanbul, Turkey in 1994, and lived there from 1995-1996. They returned to the US in 1996 and began working at the family small business, FHS Supply, Inc.-Manufacturing Superior Racing Oils & R/C Model Fuels, along with John's brother, David, who is also an Eternal at Dragon*Con. Serpil & John divorced in 2009, but remain (occasionally) on good terms. They have two wonderful children, Melike & İlayda, who do their very best to drive their parents crazy, and seem to be succeeding at it...;-In 2005, John began working at Austin International, Inc., (now Vision Metering LLC)  a business that manufactures and refurbishes residential and commercial electrical meters, gas meters, and other large scale industrial electrical equipment. John is the IT Dept (IT Manager). (Programming, troubleshooting, DB-Admin, Sys-Admin, BkUp-Admin, etc.) Some projects have included writing software to do the physics of proving gas flow meters, barcode scanning and generation, meter dial simulation, database access, many kinds of serial port communication, Automation programs for various metering devices, etc.

John is currently on (temporary? -) leave from his Ph.D. All that remains is to finish his thesis "The Non-Trivial Overall Phase in Quantum Theory". Hypothesis: The overall phase of the wave vector in QT contains the additional info necessary to determine the outcome of a measurement. Measurements in standard QT are "random", but the evolution of the complete system is deterministic. However, the observer + system being measured are just a bigger overall system evolving deterministically. The overall phase of the complete system is about the only "hidden variable" , in the EPR sense, which has not been ruled out, I think. Although we may not currently be able to measure phases of single particles, nature is using them. This is, of course, not the currently accepted theory. But just think about it: All the really cool quantum stuff happens when lots of particles get in phase. If the overall phases are non-physical, then how do the individual particles get in step? That everything is innately (non-locally) connected seems too complicated, considering that general relativity is considered to be correct. But, if the individual particles can "detect" each others' overall phase and lock in, that would make things simple-and very interesting...

However, now John has done more extensive studies on the relation between QM and SR.  He now believes that QM is actually derivable from the postulates of SR.  He is attempting to show that all of the "postulates" of QM are in fact principles that are derivable from SR.
Check out his Derivation of Quantum Mechanics from Special Relativity!

============================================================
Here is the short version:

Start with SR Physical 4-Vectors:
4-Position R = (ct,r)
4-Velocity U = γ(c,u)
4-Momentum P = (E/c,p) = (mc,p)
4-WaveVector K = (ω/c,k)
4-Gradient = (t/c,-)

Note the following relations between SR 4-Vectors:
U = dR/dτ
P = moU
K = (1/ћ)P = (ωo/c2)U
= -iK

Form a chain of SR Lorentz Invariant Scalar Equations, based on those relations:
R·R = (cτ)2
U·U = (c)2
P·P = (moc)2
K·K = (moc/ћ)2 = (ωo/c)2
∂·∂ = (-imoc/ћ)2 = -(moc/ћ)2 = -(ωo/c)2

The last is the Klein-Gordon Equation, the Relativistic Quantum Wave Equation for Spin-0 Particles.
This is RQM = Relativistic Quantum Mechanics,
derived from only standard SR 4-vectors, 4 really simple empirical relations, and the SR rule for forming Lorentz Scalar Invariants.
As one of my physics professors (Dr. Valk - GA Tech Physics) used to say:
"Once you have the Schrödinger Equation, you have Quantum Mechanics."

I would modify this just a bit:
"Once you have the Klein-Gordon Equation, you have Relativistic Quantum Mechanics.
The Schrödinger Equation, and hence Quantum Mechanics, are just the low-velocity (|v|<<c) limiting-case."
==============================================================================

A few creative accomplishments:
A physics Derivation of Quantum Mechanics from Special Relativity!, the Simplified SRQM RoadMap version, and 4-Vectors.
Forced Induction, used to find the general formula for the Sums of Powers of Integers, an innovative twist on the mathematical concept of Proof by Induction.
An interactive assembly language IFS fractal program, Fractal Origami, capable of generating "zillions" of fractal images yet less than 1K in size.  Not only are "complex" fractals defined by only a few simple rules, here is the "complex" program defined by only a few simple bytes.
The RuneQuest Cipher Challenge, an elaborate cipher puzzle with an awesome enigmatic riddle, on par with (or IMHO exceeding) the intricacies and difficulty of the Kryptos Cipher.
However, prior to this I had worked on a Secret CodeSystems & Ciphers program while working on the Kryptos Cipher.
A Javascript RPN Scientific Calculator using complex math, based somewhat on the HP scientific calculators that I used in college.
Some fairly decent Scientific-Pantheist Poetry, putting some of my philosophy into verse.
HIDIMG Java, an auto-stereogram program for displaying hidden 3D images, a rewrite of my original DOS program from the late 80's.

BTW, given that I like to play with Prime Numbers, I find it interesting that there is a theorem about primes discovered by another John Wilson, a mathematician from the 1700's. (perhaps a distant ancestor?) - it basically gives an alternate definition of prime numbers.

 1<p is prime iff (p-1)! = -1 (mod p)   see John Wilson's Theorem from MathWorld, John Wilson's Theorem from WikiPedia
